Lazard Asset Management now operates from 18 cities across 13 countries. Our investment personnel manage US $222.4 billion across a wide range of global, regional, and country-specific strategies - both traditional and alternative - in listed equity and fixed income. At Lazard Asset Management, we pride ourselves in balancing the feel of a small firm with the scale of a large global organization. Our entrepreneurial culture and flat management structure foster an environment in which good ideas can take flight, no matter where they come from.

The Trading Technology team is looking for a PM/BA to drive Lazard’s implementation of the State Street Alpha platform as well as other initiatives across the Trading & Compliance ecosystem.  First and foremost, the project manager will be responsible for stepping into the role of PM for the industry’s first State Street Alpha Implementation – connecting our Front Office via Charles River Investment Management System and integrating the entire book of business fully to State Street for Middle and Back Office.  This initiative involves transformation of the operating model for Lazard, streamlining the trading life cycle starting at implementation of the trade idea to settlement and back.  Later this year, Lazard will go-live with the core businesses of order implementation, equity/fx trading, and compliance after a 2-year implementation.  Focus will then turn to bringing Equity and Alternative Investment PMs onto the system, for a true front-to-back transformation, and this new role will own delivery of Phase 2 including new BRDs where needed, project planning, and timelines/budget.

This role will report directly to the Global Head of Trading & Compliance Technology.  It requires working closely with the development team and business stakeholders across Investments, Trading, and Compliance – including Equity/Fixed Income/FX/Alternatives trading, Compliance/Regulatory Reporting, and Analytics – to help align, clarify, and define the team’s initiatives. Projects span vendor implementations, proprietary development, and modernization of legacy systems.  This role will challenge the candidate to crystalize requirements, plan roadmaps, define best practices, and work with business units and stakeholders to meet project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Primary:  PM for Phase 2 of Lazard’s State Street Alpha implementation (Charles River Front-to-Back integration with State Street)
  • PM/BA and support across the portfolio of Front Office initiatives
  • Preparing for and facilitating key meetings, ensuring minutes and actions are documented and tracked
  • Creation of reports and documentation including status updates, and senior management presentations as needed to support the Head of Trading & Compliance Technology
  • Creation of team roadmaps, helping the development team to align to business priorities and to manage competing business requirements
  • Work with work-stream leads to update and maintain project plans and status reporting
  • Update project materials, including project presentations and analysis documents
Key Skills:
  • Expertise in stakeholder management - the ability to influence and work closely with stakeholders and drive toward solutions/get buy-in
  • Eagerness, ambition, excitement about Lazard/industry
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office specifically Excel and PowerPoint is required.  Experience with project management software tools (Jira, Confluence) a plus.
Desired Profile:
  • BA/BS or equivalent is required
  • 5+ year’s project management experience in financial services or asset management technology
  • PMO experience, ideally including 2-3 years in management consulting
  • Understanding of trade lifecycle and investment management operating model
  • Experience working in Agile and waterfall project environments
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and timelines while being detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently, knowing when to escalate issues as appropriate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team and take on additional responsibilities as required
  • Accountability and willingness to be pro-active in learning and improving the quality of deliverables and efficiency of processes
